Croatel DVB-T services

On April 8th 2007, after technical inspection, Croatel started with trial run of digital TV platform in H.264/MPEG 4 AVC technology with 5 SD channels (standard resolution video signal) and one HD channel (high resolution video signal).

One year after, our licence expired. At this time, CROATEL has a permission for trial run of 3 HD channels.

In agreement with Croatian telecommunications agency (HAT),  DVB-T system was commissioned on 24. channel UHF and in SFN mode (Single frequency network).

DVB-T system had 5 transmitters on the same channel and covered the area of the city of  Zagreb, together with the surrounding area. By introducing H.264/MPEG 4 AVC
(Advanced Video coding) standard, CROATEL made a huge step in Croatian technology. Croatel basically introduced Croatia and the entire area to MPEB 4 DVB-T technology.

CROATEL ensured a new generation of H.264/MPEG 4 AVC devices, produced by TANDBERG, 8000 series that creates DVB-T/DVB-H platforms.

Authorised trial run programs in MPEG 4 SD technology were:

  • HRT 1
  • HRT 2
  • HRT Plus
  • RTL
  • NOVA TV
  • and in MPEG 4 HD technology:
    DISCOVERY HD
